joseph's post actually makes sense, but still it needs some adjusting to.

I would partially agree with Joseph's post, partially. It seems to me that yes, Gold is a great feat for you all, considering we haven't gotten Gold in a long time. However, it is also true that you should not let this all go into your head. Victory is good, but if it means that you will be confident, over-confident, then it is not all well.

After visiting the band just yesterday, I realised that our standard HAS improved, but like what Joseph said, it is still at the tip of the iceberg. Thus, to raise it even more to steadier levels, we should put in even more effort. With Miss Chan leaving the band last year, I think the band has been lesser organised. Like we miss the spirit of Miss Chan's steadfastness and determination, I hope you all will not let us seniors down and push even harder.

When Joseph mentioned potential, I would rather say everyone has the potential. Every baby is born a genius, it is the process of nurturing the potential that matters. Yes, you should listen to the conductors, your seniors, and like Mrs Chua mentioned, you should work even harder. Approach anyone to claim any doubts, and on your own, you can go dig out more scores to practise at your own time. Many would say that they have no time and all, but if my sec4 seniors and I can do it, why not you?

Congratulations is one thing, but to continue persevering is another. I wish you guys all the best, and I hope you guys would aim for Gold with Honours the next SYF in 2010.

Hi everyone, Joseph here. (gonna post something rly formal. have to practice my eng anywaez)

Little people has posted recently so I shall post, since I have time on my hands anyways.

A gold may be an achievement to all of us and I believe that the practice you have put in is not a decision that you have regretted. But the standard is still at the tip of the iceberg. You have much potential in each and every one of you; if you could tap into that potential yourself you wouldn't need instructors, do you?

In all my years in band(and I have been in band since p1 till now), instructors always guide us when we are heading towards the wrong direction. Not for themselves, not for their pay but for each and every one of you. If they do not care, why character building and not just practicing the whole time? Your sucess may not lie as a musical player when you grow up, but the character that is forged in the band will lead you to your own success, whatever your path may be.

I would like to congratulate you guys for a gold, but there is still a lot of potential that you can realize it by listening to instructors first. It has been a long time, the last time we had a gold, if I'm not wrong, was in 2000(which we got a consecutive silver, similar to a gold). If you take instructors for granted or don't listen to them, the next success may come in a long time too.

Many of you may not know me, anyway i am Zariel. I have not been back to help you all and I feel guilty. Anyway, this year is your SYF and it is a extremely important year. I heard from some seniors that you all are not as discipline. Don't disapoint the people that put hopes on you all. Mr Aw, the instructors who put in their effort and everything just to help all of you. Seniors that have been going back just to help all of you like Joseph, Lin rui, lianne, jiaying and many others. They have done their part in helping all of you but if you don't put in that effort then no one can help you. Help Ronice maintain discipline, don't give her a hard time. It is your year!! Don't waste it. It is never too late, work hard from now. Don't skip practices, which you should not by now, and put in all your effort for that few hours of practice you have only. Treasure the limited time you have to practice and don't wate time on discipline matters. Mr Aw and the other instructors are very kind to you all already so don't take things for granted and work hard in return. They can be at other schools helping other bands but they come to teach all off you!!! They have hopes on all of you, if they don't give up on you, then u should never give up on yourselves!!Prove us wrong that you have discicpline problems, prove to us that you can do better than this. This is not the best you can do and I am sure many of you know that too. I know I am not the best person to tell all of you this as I have not been going back to help out. From what the other seniors say, they are in dire straits and are doing the best they can already. So give your best also and don't let us down. ONE BAND ONE SOUND!! all of you are in this together. Give your best on that day so when you get your result, all of you will be jumping with joy and the teachers will be hugging each other( like during 2004 SYF...miss chan and miss tan). Don't regret later so put in your best now!! You all can do it!! Believe in yourselves and buck up!! A few words for those people who are thinking of quitting band or have already quit. Stop wasting the instructors time. They have put in alot of effort in helping you to learn a new skill. Do not repay them by running away. Stay commited to something, if you keep giving up half way, when will you suceed? Start by staying commited to a CCA, help yourself!! Mr Aw is a very kind instructor, he is very good compared to the other instructors you will get next time if you ever join band in secondary school or if you ever visit other bands. You will find that Mr Aw is really a very good instructor. He is already so kind to all of you so DO NOT take advantage of his kindness to all of you, give respect to him and DON'T ever be rude to him or any other instructor. Anyway, best of luck to all of you and I am very sure that you can do well if all of you start working hard. Don't let Mr Aw down.

This is a slight overview of the camp:

4 parts of Leadership Training (2 during 13th March, 2 during 14th March), each taking 1hr30min - 2hr

With request of some seniors, you guys will only find out what's it all about during the camp. =]

All the rest of the time: Practice. Who ask you guys so bad? So we had to cancel out all the games... =[[ Oh well... Too bad! jk lahz...

Talking about rapsody camp, i shall talk about it from my view...=]]

Day 1 -
First, v lorsor briefing...haha. safety..etc. then the super-seniors took e recruits...first we had drills... "ANY VOLUNTEERS TO BE COMMANDER?" all so shy, except 1 boy... from bert, so i gave bert 10 points... then 1 recruit say until 10.45(supposed to be until 11.45) then we finished early. haiz... so sad e 2 grps i took didn't win. onli the hercules' group won..=[[

So we had a lame quiz.. 5 points for correct answer, -2 points for wrong answer

...etc.

sum1 shouted: UGLY GIRL!!!
me: partially correct, ok i give you 3 points.. HAHA. all e snrs were laughing.

did this 4 15 min. then i split them into 2 clusters 4 some group games while i hide chopsticks around the school. ea chopstick they got was 5 points. robert imba sia... won the chopsticks game. haiz... muz minus points from robert liao. so i did a little bit of moderation... hehe.

then, prac and prac and prac. e song doesn't even sound like e name. come to think of it, alot of songs doesn't sound like its name. 7th night of july. like since when does the tune sound like it? how do u even noe if it sounds like 7th night of july? lool. then we were dismissed.

Day 2 -
haha... mafia... i was like - 'eh if ur r in buddies rite, it's ok... dun stray away frm ur buddy', then both of them folo me... haha. paul - 20 n dun hav a chance to +60...hehe. aiya, all e farm visits v de wud lehz...

got a lot of prac and combined. then i took e p2s. wahlao... v cham lehz... i took 1 section by 1 section then they say i boring. then pple dun even noe how to play concert... they dunno 'musicality'... i can't teach douglas, i juz can't... i feel like giving up... RAHH!!!

anywaez, bath time n cleaning, haha, when mr aw count to 10 i juz took a sheet of paper, crumpled it up and then threw it on the floor. EH, ED MINUS 10, SO DIRTY!!!MUHAHAHAHA!

well, after tt got dinner, then group games, we played charades. some of e charades were v v hard - gershwin. who can act it out? centuria. utopia... lool? eh robert is super pro ah, i mean they r e onli grp who successfully did 60/+ words... i specially giv them hard 1 like mario, then they guessed partially... then watch movie...etc.

then *seniors stuff while the jnrs sleep*

Day 3-
PT... i was especially mean to kevin of ed group... i saw him slacking away so i decided to torture him a little bit...=]] i made every1 do compass star jumps... 5 onli then complain like xiao liao...

then i saw percussion do everything for e hall arrangement... muhahaha. i kept shouting at them, i was kindaf mean to the jaron guy...

skips boring stuff, to dinner time

me n min jian go buy food from kopitiam while all the rest had bad food...muhahaha.... rapsody evening i shan't explain.

then we went to chomp chomp for the prize for the winning group - ITARU!!! (Named after Itaru Sakai, composer of Seventh night of july[a grade 5 piece])

Reach school, got into groups
attentioned all the way while teachers were giving briefing.
started our practice..sectionals..and then there's LUNCH(: and group discussion.
And oh oh the theme of group discussion is...MUSICAL ITEM!
sounds new, right?
cos for most of the years is skit.then last year, a change of taste(smacks lips in delight) to..
ADVERTISING ROSYTH CONCERT BAND! =)

Ezbon looked so sian after packing some files in the band room cos they looked like they're crumpling downwards.

So yeah we got cake.
And Joseph told us that the cake/muffins were the SUPERSENIORS tea break
LOL but it was nice lah
We opened de box-smelled the fragance of the muffins.
The flavours were all kept mysterious, but the chocolate ones were snatched up/
I took one muffin, tasted it
AND GOSH IT WAS MY FAVOURITE
BANANA MUFFIN!

There was a small slice of banana in the centre of the cake

eugenia lianne and i stayed back for a while,
to help mr aw with the MYSTERIOUS ITEM that the P6s seniors were sneaking up on in the store room.

woke up a total of five times in the night =.=

Woke up at 4.27am
Then turned and tossed until 6am.
You can imagined how bored i was
1h33mins doing nth XD muahahaha.
But there was one occasion when i got up and walked to my bag
to take tissue
cos my throat felt dry and itchy and my nose felt kind of blocked and uncomfortable.
then no more water already.
Took one tissue, and cleared my throat all the way until 6am,
went to the toilet,washed up and drank from the water cooler.
Then morning exercise.
Compass Star jumps, 8 rounds round the parade square, jogging on spot, and lots of stretching and breathing exercises.
delicious breakfast followed!
Egg sandwiches (or some may say, sardine sndwiches) and hot piping milooooo.
the sectional practice and combine practice, then lunch, and rehearsal for
RHAPSODY EVENING!
yep, the highlight of the whole band camp(:

Well during the audition to pick 3 groups, our group (ALFRED!) volunteered to start first.
Douglas then made his way infront (much to my puzzlement)(is there such word?)
And started his entering speech!
He thought ofthat speech himself! i didn't ask him to do anything! i was just as shocked!
His speech is cute and funny((:
he's so spontaneous mann!!
Okay so everything went smoothly(:
with FLUTE as the best section of year!

Finally found time to post.
How's band? I do miss band dearly. Especially my instrument..
ahhh well will go back derr!!! Can't wait for PSLE to be over!
Today was science paper.
AND I WENT TO WRITE THAT TADPOLES GERMINATE
seriously.
Then when i heard that the correct answer is fertilisation,i almost died laughing xD
Why am i toking bout sch stuff? Nevermind
Ahhh yes band,there's good news too!!
While i was having some extra lessons of practice for a competition on one wednesday
My teammates and i heard you all playing "Where the Black Hawk Soars"
One of them said that the starting part was grand and nice--The fanfare,in other words
BUT
he said that the later parts could be improved cos it sounded messy and sounded like the "music was going to die"
So i believe there's always room for improvement,RCB!
